Content Policy

Most platforms write content policies that reserve unlimited discretion. This one lists what is prohibited, because a rule you can check is worth more than a promise you cannot.

The three rules

You may not use Olio to host or link to:

Adult content. Pornographic or sexually explicit material.
Content promoting violence. Material that incites, threatens, or glorifies violence against people.
Illegal content. Anything unlawful in itself — child sexual abuse material, stolen credentials or payment data, malware, trafficking in drugs, weapons, or people.

That is the complete list. If your content does not fall into one of those three categories, it does not violate this policy.

What we will not remove you for

Being explicit about this is the point of the policy, so:

Your opinions. Political, religious, or otherwise. Including ones we disagree with.
Your profession. Lawful work is lawful work.
What you do on other platforms. A suspension elsewhere is not evidence of anything here.
Being reported. Reports trigger a review, not a removal. Volume of complaints is not a factor in the outcome.
Adjacency. Sexual health resources, LGBTQ+ community links, lingerie retail, harm-reduction information, and similar material are not adult content and are not treated as such.
Being controversial. Disagreeable is not prohibited.

How enforcement works

Links submitted to Olio are screened automatically against the three rules above. That screening reads the URL and its label — it does not visit the page.

Automated screening never removes anything. It can only flag a link for a person to look at. Every removal decision on Olio is made by a human being.

When a link is flagged:

It stays live and visible while it waits for review.
A member of our team opens the link and assesses it against this policy.
Most flags are dismissed. Automated screening errs toward flagging, so a flag is a prompt to check, not a finding.
If a link does violate the policy, we act on that link and email you the reason.

We remove individual links before we act on accounts. An account is suspended only for repeated or severe violations — not for a single bad link.

If we get it wrong

Reply to the email we send you, or write to support@olio.am. A person reads it. Tell us what you think we got wrong and we will look again.

We would rather reverse a mistake than defend one.

What we are required to do

We will comply with valid legal orders, and we may act on content we are legally required to act on regardless of what this policy says. We are not able to promise otherwise, and no provider honestly can.

Where we are permitted to tell you that we received such an order, we will.

Changes to this policy

This policy is versioned. When the rules change, the version number and date at the top change with them, and we will email account holders about any change that makes a previously permitted use prohibited.

We will not quietly broaden these rules. The current version is the commitment.
